GC Separation Columns

Capillary columns for gas chromatography allow for complex separations of a wide range of analytes with extremely high sensitivity. Due to their versatility and performance, capillary separation columns have become indispensable from waste water analysis to quality control of pharmaceutical substances, from basic research to process monitoring in the chemical industry.

In the broadest sense, phases for capillary gas chromatography are divided into the non-polar to moderately polar siloxanes and the highly polar Wax phases. The polarity and volatility of the analytes are decisive for the selection of the separation phase; the separation performance and also the time required for separation can then be optimized by selecting the other column parameters such as column length and inner diameter as well as the film thickness.

We deliver high-quality capillary columns of all common phases since 1984, including various special phases, for example for H53 analysis or enantiomer separations. Thanks to our in-house production, special dimensions are also available according to customer requirements. Please contact us!

We produce packed GC columns since 1984. Our inventory includes over 500 stationary phases, more than 50 support materials and over 100 adsorption media, which allows us to fulfill even unusual column wishes promptly and reliably. For our hardware we use durable stainless steel tubing or the especially inert INNOSteel tubing, an internally silica-coated stainless steel tubing that combines the flexibility and durability of stainless steel with the excellent chromatographic behavior of glass columns.

Quadrex Corp. has been producing a complete line of fused silica and stainless steel GC capillary columns in all polarity levels as well as FS-PLOT columns since 1976.

A special feature is the production of separation columns with extremely high film thicknesses of up to 12 µm.

Phases suitable for MS are offered as type 1, 5, 17 and 35, HT phases up to 400 °C as type 1, 5, 50 and 65.

The Ohio Valley Specialty Comp. has been producing silicone phases especially suitable for GC since 1966.

This was later followed by a range of FS capillary columns with 21 different phases (including 7 PLOT columns) in three standard lengths (15, 30, 60 m) and with IDs of 0.25, 0.32 and 0.53 mm.
